Thank You for the Opportunity Willow Creek

In the summer of 1973 at the age of 15, while I was still enrolled in high school, I was given the opportunity to be employed as a summer helper with the Willow Creek Community Services District in the water department.

Soon after High School graduation in 1975, I worked part time with the District and also attended Shasta College.

While attending school I took classes in water resources and water treatment, as I thought that water was an interesting subject.

After working under the General Manager for a few years, I became the Chief Water Operator for the District.

As I continued to improve on my skills over the years, The District also continued to improve on our distribution system infrastructure improvements.

In the past twelve years we have replaced many key components within the District infrastructure that were starting to age.

Our new water treatment facility was the start of our capital improvement plan.

We continue to improve on key components throughout the treatment and distribution system each year.

In the next few years we will be working on water mains, service lines and water control valves.

In our improvements with the community, there are plans for a new wastewater facility and collection system for the downtown area of Willow Creek.

This past year the District worked with PG&E and added new streetlights in the downtown area.

The District also worked with Redwood Coast Energy Authority and installed two new electric car charging stations.

We have also been working with Cal Trans on radar speed signs.

As you can see community infrastructure is very important to me, our staff and to our Board of Directors.

We have set the foundation for a very stable District for many years to come.

Now here is the tough part of saying good bye, as your water guy.

There is a point where you know that you have accomplished personal and community goals in life’s journey.

Well that time has arrived for me, I have met those goals.

It is time to give a new upcoming professional the opportunity that was given to me.

September 30th, 2016 will be my last day with the Willow Creek Community Services District as the General Manager / Chief Water Operator.

I have been overwhelmed by our community, the Board of Directors and our staff with the support that they have given me over the years.

I have been very proud to say Willow Creek is my home.

Thank you so much…

Water Guy
